Monmouth County Meets the Needs is a collaboration of community partners coming together for a one-day event to provide health and human services to the residents of Monmouth County. The group was sponsored by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. North Shore Area Section and Monmouth County Commissioners. MCMN identified a community with the most need and, in 2022, agreed to bring its resources to the City of Asbury Park. After learning of a planned festival by the Asbury Park Quality of Life Committee, MCMN attained permission to have a joint event. The resources and services provided included free clothing, health screening, covid-19 vaccinations, free haircut, 30-pound food crisis boxes, HIV and Syphilis testing, and free family hygiene kits. The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2022, and due to rain, was rescheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2022 was a success! Monmouth County Meets the Need plans to maintain the partnership and continue bringing these resources and much more to other communities each year.
